Edmond’s Keith Breckenridge: SNU Sports Management Spotlight

Attending Southern Nazarene University is a family affair for Keith Breckenridge. His father also attended SNU, so it was a school he was very familiar with when trying to decide where he wanted to pursue his masters degree. 

“It came down to familiarity. Both me and my dad have bachelor degrees from Southern Nazarene University,” said Breckenridge. “Therefore, the answer was in front of me when looking to further my education.” 

Breckenridge, a history teacher at Summit Middle School, wanted to continue his education and pursue a master’s degree in Educational Management, and once deciding on SNU, he knew this was the right school for him. 

“The number of resources that the program exposes you to and having the ability to listen and learn from some of the top people in Oklahoma was a major surprise for me,” said Breckenridge. “What I enjoyed most was the ability to network with people within the profession and create connections that could help me out in the future.” 

Also an offensive line coach for the Oklahoma Christian Academy football team in Edmond, Breckenridge knew this degree program would help him further his career as an educator and a coach. 

“Having a masters is very important in today’s profession. Having this degree will put me one step closer to my ultimate goal of being a head coach or an athletic director. I’d also like to help college athletes navigate through NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness),” said Breckenridge. 

For other educators or coaches looking to take that next step and further their education by earning a masters degree, Breckenridge offers this advice when considering SNU as your educational provider. 

“Getting a masters takes a lot of time, effort, and money. You want to make sure those assets you’re sacrificing are going to be used effectively and efficiently. Southern Nazarene does a great job of making sure you’re getting a great education while bringing value to the effort put in for the program and money spent for it,” said Breckenridge.
