Edmond Memorial Cheer – Team Spotlight

As many of their peers were preparing for the first day of school, the Memorial Bulldogs cheer squad were hard at work preparing for the upcoming season and the state competition set for September 25th. Head coach Melissa Huston has a squad with tremendous senior leadership to help guide some of the younger members of the team as they prepare for what promises to be a tough competition at Union High School. “The EMHS varsity cheer squad is made up of 13 seniors, five juniors, and six sophomores. They are led by senior captains, Allie Clift and Reagan Lanier. These girls are the best of the best and give their heart and soul in everything they do. Most of the members participate in state cheer and other competitive teams. The EMHS cheerleaders excel at cheering on football, basketball, and wrestling. Each home performance spotlights their talent and skills. It is truly an honor and privilege to be a member of the EMHS cheer squad,” said coach Huston.

Captains Allie Clift and Reagan Lanier are great examples of what it takes to be a captain of a varsity cheer team. Clift brings a ton of experience and passion to the team, while Lanier sets the example through her work ethic. “Reagan Lanier showcases her leadership as one of our EMHS senior cheer captains. She has a work ethic that rivals no other. She always gives 100 percent and strives for what is best for the whole team. In addition to these qualities, she is an incredibly talented cheerleader with impressive skills. Above all, her most admirable characteristics are her strong moral code and her selfless attitude. She takes being a role model to all the other teammates very seriously,” said coach Huston.

This year’s squad features Allie Clift, Reagan Lanier, Reagan Alexander, Brooke Burgess, Makiah Cossey, Laine Crytzer, Kennedy Evans, Hannah Grady, Hope Guderian, Spencer Holleyman, Riley Horton, Madeline Jones, Skye Lucas, Georgia Matthews, Liberty Neller, Alexa Padilla, Abbie Parson, Eliza Pehrson, Rylee Rodriguez, Hadley Rowland, Madison Schmidt, Ally Sheriff, Kayleigh Shortt, and Allie Williams.
