After falling a game shy of qualifying for the state tournament, the Tuttle Tigers are eager to get back on the floor. “We return three starters from last season,” says Tuttle head coach Bryan Merritt. “If we can battle through one of the toughest early season schedules in Class 4A while improving every game, we will be a tough team to beat in the postseason.” Isaac McDoulett (6-5, Sr.), Tylor McCarthey (6-6, Sr), and Garrett Redwine (6-0, Jr.) all return after starting last year. McDoulett averaged 18.0 points per game last year and scored over 1,000 points in his career. “Isaac is 6-foot-5 and score inside and out. He’s a really tough matchup,” says Merritt. Redwine is Tuttle’s point guard and runs the team. Merritt says Redwine doesn’t turn the ball over but will need to add a scoring punch this season. McCarthey is a two-sport athlete that Merritt describes as a great student, great leader, and hard worker. An underclassman Merritt is excited to see make an impact for the Tigers is Noah Clark (6-5, So.).
GIRLS
Coach: Brian Lester
20-21 Record: 25-3
After winning the 4A state title last season, Tuttle head coach Brian Lester is expecting to be in the mix once again. “If we stay healthy, we have a chance to be in the hunt,” Lester says. “We are returning most of our girls from last year’s state title team.” Landry Allen (6-3, Jr.) returns after a stellar sophomore season that saw her average 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game. Lester says she has improved greatly from last season when she was named MVP of the state tournament. Madi Stuber (5-10, Sr.) is also back after averaging 11.0 points on 71 percent shooting and 4.0 steals a season ago. Lester also says Stuber creates havoc on the defensive end of the floor. Hadley Periman (6-2, Sr.) is another long, athletic player for the Lady Tigers. She averaged 8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals a season ago. “She does everything for us,” says Lester. “She plays great defense, handles the ball, and makes winning plays.” Allie Rehl (5-9, So.) is an underclassman Lester is excited to see take the next step. She averaged 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds last season. Two other players expected to contribute for Tuttle are Storie Driver (5-7, Sr.) and Riley Kopf (5-10, Sr.).
