Norman Tigers Basketball Team Previews – Presented By Landers

BOYS

Coach: Cory Cole

20-21 Record: 2-18

Following a disappointing 2020-2021 season, the Norman Tigers are looking to rebound. Head coach Cory Cole likes the makeup of his roster as his Tigers look to get back into the mix of Class 6A. “Our team has some returning pieces with several seniors and a few new additions,” Cole says. “Our depth should be one of our assets this year. We will defend well and rebound well and look to play an up-tempo pace.” Leading the Tigers on the court is forward Connor Goodson (6-4, Sr.). “Connor is an experienced forward that is a tough matchup. He can get to the paint, rebound well, and defend multiple positions,” says Cole. Caison Cole is a transfer from Edmond Memorial that Norman will be counting on this season. “Caison is a heady and quick playmaker that can shoot well,” says Cole. “He has the ability to impact a game in multiple ways.” An underclassman expected to contribute for the Tigers is forward Trashaun Combs (6-4, So.). “Trashaun is a transfer from Norman North,” says Cole. “His athleticism and playmaking ability make him one to watch.” Other players expected to contribute for the Tigers this year are three-point threat Nate Wilson (5-10, Sr.), defensive specialist Ian Nduati (5-10, Sr.), Lendy Holmes (6-4, Sr.), Cameron Locke (5-10, Sr.), center Marcus Combs (6-6, Jr.), forward Matt Willenborg (6-5, Jr.), and Cooper Alexander (6-4, So.).

GIRLS

Coach: Frankie Parks

20-21 Record: 19-0

The Norman Lady Tigers have high expectations once again. The defending state champions enter the season with a 41-game winning streak and have one of the most talented rosters in the state. “We have a Kansas State commit, Florida commit, a freshman with 13 Division 1 offers, and a junior with three Division 1 offers,” says head coach Frankie Parks. “We have a talented group of young ladies that will keep Norman High competing at the highest level.” Combo guard Mikayla Parks (5-8, Sr.) is the Kansas State commit and she is expected to lead Norman on and off the court. Myka Perry (6-0, Sr.), the Florida commit, is a long combo guard that plays well on both ends of the floor. Shooting guard Aaliyah Henderson (5-8, Jr.), has three Division 1 offers and is expected to play a key role once again for the Lady Tigers. Perhaps the most talented player on the team is Keeley Parks (5-10, Fr.). The freshman currently has 13 Division 1 offers including Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Arkansas. Seleh Harmon (5-9, Fr.) also currently holds a Division I offer. Other players expected to play key roles for Norman are Drury commit Jaki Rollins (5-10, Sr.) and forward Jordyn Rollins (6-0, Jr.).
