Deer Creek’s Caymon Robertson – Raising Cane’s 2022 SUPER FAN

By Derrick Smith

While most people think of a superfan as someone who cheers hard at sporting events and other school functions, it is more than that. A superfan is also someone that is loved by the school and is a great representation of the school. And no one fits that ideal better than Deer Creek’s Caymon Robertson.

Caymon, who is a senior, is loved by the whole school. He has a very close relationship with Brett Pense, Deer Creek’s starting quarterback, and he goes out of his way to make everyone feel loved. He is Mr. Deer Creek High School and attends as many events as he can.

More than a fan, Robertson is also an athlete himself. He competes in track and field, bocce ball, and basketball in the Special Olympics. He recently participated in a 5K with the Ainsley’s Angels organization.

There are a number of people that have impacted Caymon’s life along the way. But he says that there are a few that are really special to him.

“One of my role models is Brett Pense,” he said. “He is a great athlete but an even better friend. Another would be Alston Brown, who helped me work out and become stronger. Megan Wilson has been a big help for me in school. She is one of my teaching assistants, but she is also a friend. She always takes care of me and makes sure that I am okay.”

Being a student, Caymon has learned from a number of different teachers. While he may enjoy some classes more than others, Robertson says it is almost impossible to choose a favorite teacher.

“All of my teachers are my favorite,” he said. “They teach me responsibility, independence, and to learn from my mistakes. I am thankful for each one of them.”

Winning the Oklahoma City Area Superfan award is special to Caymon, and he says that no matter what happens, he will always love his school.

“It is important to me that I was chosen as Deer Creek’s superfan,” he said. “I love my school and I love all of my friends. My favorite thing about this community is getting to meet new people.”
