Mustang Mom of the Month Alisha Johnson – Presented By Guarantee Abstract Co.

By Derrick Smith

When a student makes the decision to play a sport, they are not the only ones affected by this decision. Their parents take on a big role and responsibility also. They make sure their child makes it to practice and has the gear required among other things. Alisha Johnson says that with her kids playing sports, it has given her extra time to spend with them.

“My involvement in my son Chance’s athletic career has been taking him back and forth to practice and games since he was four years old.  He has played soccer since he was four and played football in the seventh, eleventh, and senior seasons. I really enjoy watching him play and rarely miss a game.  Chance’s club team, TSC, is out of Tulsa so I definitely spend a lot of time traveling up and down the turnpike for practice and games.”

Chance, who is a senior at Mustang High School, is a goalkeeper for the Broncos’ soccer team and he is also place kicker for the football team. He will continue his education and soccer career at Southern Methodist University in Texas in the fall. Johnson’s daughter Anna attended Mustang schools before graduating and now attends the University of Central Oklahoma with plans to teach special education in the fall.

When she is not following her kids’ athletics, Alisha runs her own accounting business which she has run for the past fifteen years. She has been a member of the Booster Club for the past four years, serving as the secretary. Now her husband is the president, and she assists him. She says that most of her free time is spent hanging out with the family and traveling across the country watching Chance play soccer.

Johnson says she enjoys being a part of such an outstanding community.

“I have always loved the small town feel of Mustang,” she said. “Even though Mustang schools are rather large, the involvement of parents and the community have been great.”
