KYLE WHITE
6-5
OFFENSE
The Wolves ended last season in the Class 6A-I quarterfinals and enter this season ready to go further in the playoffs. Head coach Kyle White is in his seventh season and says that his team has a good mixture of experience and youth, which White expects to lead to a solid season. “We have some experience coming back on the defensive side of the ball,” the coach said. “That should help carry us. We have experience on the offensive line and running back coming back, which should lead to a productive running game. Overall, we will have a young offense.” There are three starters back for the Wolves this season, one of them will be running back Demarius Robinson (5-9, 165, So.). He played in nine of the team’s eleven games last year and amassed 1,482 yards on the ground and 156 through the air. He had a total of seventeen offensive touchdowns last season. Seniors Jon Ashford (6-5, 300, Sr.) and Zion Nokes (6-2, 265, Sr.) are back for their final season for Santa Fe, and they will anchor the offensive line. Both had solid seasons a year ago and are expected to be impact players this season.
DEFENSE
The Wolves have returning players back at all three levels of the defense. The defensive line has four players that made contributions a year ago. Playing at linebacker will be Chris Fitzpatrick (6-2, 220, Sr.), who ended his junior season with 127 tackles and four tackles for loss. Over the span of his varsity career, Fitzpatrick has tallied 226 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and two interceptions. Jaylen Kariuki (6-3, 250, Sr.), Bergin Kysar (6-3, 240, Jr.), Jason Wilson (6-2, 210, Jr.), and Alex Jones (6-2, 270, Jr.) will all be called upon to cause problems for opposing offenses, which is something that they did well a year ago. Last season saw the four combine for 123 tackles, fifteen tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a pass break-up. Patrolling the secondary will be Cade Nelson (6-1, 165, Sr.), who had sixty-six tackles, five pass breakups, and an interception. He will work to continue to disrupt the passing game of the Wolves’ opponents. Assistant coaches are Chris Rose, Robby Carriger, Daniel Maly, Mike Coats, Todd Bonnewell, Demontre Hurst, Caden MacNeill, Malik Earl, Chris Paddlety, Damon Turner, and Austin Maly.
