Noble Bears Football Preview – Presented By Noble Booster Club

GREG GEORGE

8-3

OFFENSE

The expectations are growing at Noble as the team returns several players from last seasons 8-3 team. Head coach Greg George said the team is excited to get the season underway. “We believe we have a shot for a playoff berth if we can get some offensive and defensive lineman developed. Had a few players injured last year that we hope can come back and be a big contributing factor. Have some really good skill kids back,” said coach George. Brandon Harper (5-8, 180, Sr.) accounted for 1,460 yards receiving with 15 touchdowns from his wide receiver position last year. Quarterback Colin Fisher (6-2, 190, Sr.) has the arm to throw for big numbers. Last year he threw for more than 3,100 yards and 25 touchdowns as a junior. Running back Colin Thomas (5-8, 180, Sr.) brings balance to the offense with his 1,045 yards on the ground. Another player to watch on offense is LT Taylor (5-8, 160, Sr.). The Bears will run a spread offense, taking what the opposing defense will give. Development of the offensive line is the top priority this offseason. Look for Jordan Hensley to step up and be the cornerstone of the line.

DEFENSE

Four players will return to the defense this season from last years team. Look for the Bears to utilize a 3-4 scheme and a bend-don’t-break philosophy. Max Sauvageau (6-0, 200, Sr.) and Luke Conley (6-0, 190, Sr.) will bookend the defensive end positions. Both players can get up field and pressure their opponents’ backfield. Jackson Stewart (6-0, 215, Jr.) is the hard-hitting linebacker the Bears will need to play big this year. Stewart can drop in pass coverage but look for Harper to be the lockdown corner the Bears needs this season. Harper will cover the opposing teams best wide receiver every Friday night.
