OFFENSE
The Timberwolves look to improve on last season’s quarterfinals playoff exit. They return four playmakers that will be key in helping break in new starting quarterback Gavin Frakes (6-4, 217, Sr). Frakes has prepped behind a multi-year starter and is ready to take over and lead the offense this season. Returning to the running back position is Chapman McKown (5-8, 160, Jr.), who had 1,000 rushing yards last season along with eight touchdowns. But McKown is more than just a running threat as he had 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Also returning for the Timberwolves is a trio of receivers. The leading returner is Brayden Dorney (6-0, 175, Jr.) who registered 144 total yards and one touchdown on seven receptions. Hayden Hack (6-3, 170, Sr) pulled in six receptions for 87 yards and two scores a year ago, and Brae Alonzo (5-10, 170, Sr.) tallied four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. Anchoring down the offensive line will be center Walker Peck (6-2, 290, Sr.). Fourth-year head coach, Justin Jones, has a solid outlook for his team this season. “We are looking forward to things getting back to normal,” he said. “We are coming off of a good season and hope to continue to elevate our play as we navigate through a tough 6A-1 schedule.
DEFENSE
Coming off of a season that saw the Timberwolves give up an average of twenty-nine points per game, the team brings back a senior-heavy defense that is ready to be a force on the field. Outside linebacker, Duncan Parham (6-4, 220, Sr) is back after totaling 119 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and five sacks a year ago. He will be joined again at linebacker by Will Bradley (5-10, 180, Sr.) who had 112 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks. Patrolling the back of the defense will be the safety duo of Jake Tadlock (5-10, 172, Sr.) and Eli Moulton (5-11, 165, Sr.), that combined for 172 tackles, four tackles for loss, 16 pass breakups, and five interceptions last season. Wreaking havoc on the front line will be nose guard Joshua Koranda (6-2, 310, Sr). He had 93 tackles and two sacks last year. Covering the receivers at the corner position will be Gavin Anderson (5-9, 174, Sr.) who contributed 44 tackles, four forced fumbles, and two pass break-ups.
