OFFENSE

Entering year two leading the Harrah Panthers, head coach Chris Bliek is excited to see how his team builds upon their success from last year. Offensively, Harrah has seven returning starters led by quarterback Nolan Boone (6-1, 205, Sr.). Boone, a VYPE Top 100 player, is a true dual threat quarterback that tallied over 2,000 yards of offense last year. He also finished most games with at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. Boone isn’t the only weapon on this Panther offense. Running back Nick Moore (6-0, 200, Sr.) is a three-year starter that had over 1,000 yards of offense last season. Moore does a little bit of everything out of the backfield. He runs hard, catches the ball well, and is a very good blocker in pass protection. Boone and Moore will look to see their numbers jump up this year as they work behind an experienced offensive line. The O-Line is led by three-year starter, and state champion power lifter, Joseph Norton (6-0, 350, Sr.). Joining Norton are two more returning starters in Zeke Caldwell (6-1, 240, Sr.) and Bryce Walker (6-2, 240, Sr.). Harrah will work predominantly out of 11 personnel but will use unique formations and motions to stress defenses.

DEFENSE

Like the offense, the Harrah defense returns seven starters making this one of the more experienced units in 4A. Harrah will use a base 3-4 defense but will show multiple different coverages and bring pressure from multiple defensive positions. Harrah has experience returning in all three levels of their defense. Along the line, Dawson Hairell (6-3, 220, Jr.) and James Cummings (6-2, 190, Sr.) will bring pressure from the two defensive end positions. Hairell is a versatile defender who played multiple defensive positions last year and Cummings has a knack for being around the ball and making plays. At linebacker, Mort Barber (5-11, 185, Sr.) returns after leading the team in tackles last season. His strength and tenacity to break through blocks earned him the nickname “The Barbarian.” He’s joined at linebacker by Chad Lee Humphries (5-8, 160, Sr.) who led Harrah in turnovers and sacks. Ricky Bliek (5-8, 160, Sr.) and Braydon Morrison (5-10, 170, Sr.) lead the secondary for Harrah. Bliek is a three-year starter that often covers the opposing team’s best receiver. Morrison is known for his big hits and speed in the secondary. The assistant coaches for Harrah are Lafe Cruzan (OL/OC), Levi Lunsford (TE/STC), and Brandon Kane (RB/LB).
