Edmond Memorial’s Jenny Dickson – Mom Of The Month Spotlight Presented By Guarantee Abstract

By Derrick Smith

Jenny Dickson graduated from Lawton High School. There, she was a member of the softball, tennis, and cheer teams but says that the cheer team was her favorite. Now that she is a parent, she has passed the love for athletics and playing sports down to her children.

“My son Grant graduated from Edmond Memorial in 2017,” she said. “He wrestled and played football. He is now at Oklahoma State University in his final year for a civil engineering degree. Jill, my daughter, is a senior at Memorial this year and plays softball. She plans on attending Oklahoma Christian University and playing softball for Coach Rodriguez.”

Dickson is currently an attorney for the state of Oklahoma. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family. She says that sports play a big role in their family unit.

“Sports have always been a big part of our family life,” she said. “I am a firm believer in team sports and playing for your teammates over yourself. Sports have been beneficial to both Jill and Grant and how they have developed into productive young adults.”

When it comes to sports, Jenny is more than just a spectating parent. She is beginning her eighth year as a member of the Edmond Memorial Athletic Booster Club.

“I am the softball rep for the booster club,” she stated. “I am involved heavily in fundraisers and I also volunteer to assist wherever I can with Jill’s travel ball team.”

A great community supports its local student athletes and Dickson says that is something that she loves about the community of Edmond and the Memorial school district.

“Edmond Memorial is a great community,” she said. “We love everything about it. It has been such a great place for us.”
