A member of the varsity cheer squad and the FFA chapter at Mustang High School, Lauren Taylor is in her freshman year of high school and is following in the footsteps of her older sisters.
“My two older sisters were and one of them is still in FFA, so I have been around it for quite a while,” said Taylor. “My parents and sisters are the ones who encouraged me to join. My parents were both in FFA when they were in school, and both of my sisters have been involved. So, it’s just been instilled in me for a long time.”
Taylor said there are many things to enjoy about being a member of the FFA chapter at Mustang High School.
“What I enjoy most about being in FFA is the family and leadership. In FFA I feel like it becomes one big family that you go do things and grow with. The leadership aspect of FFA is incredible, I have watched my sister go through all her high school years in FFA and I saw how much she grew as a leader and how she developed those skills,” said Taylor. “The activities I am involved in with the Mustang FFA chapter is currently I am the president of the opening and closing ceremonies team. I enjoy it very much and we won our first competition we went to.”
While Taylor may not show animals, she does ride horses and is learning to team rope. As a member of the cheer team, Taylor said she loves her teammates and how well they all work together.
“What I love most about my team and teammates is the family and bonds. The team as a whole is just like a big family that goes through a lot together. For example, the early morning practices, the falls, the mistakes, and the life lessons. I have loved getting to know every single athlete on that team and getting to see how all of us working together to create beautiful things and experiences. I have already made so many memories this year and can’t wait for the journey to continue,” said Taylor.
Taylor said her parents have been big supporters throughout her life and she is thankful to have them.
“My parents have taught me so many things in life and about life. They grew up with very little and they turned out super successful and worked so hard to get to where they are now. They have taught me that hard work is super important and that if you want to go somewhere in life it’s not going to come easy,” said Taylor.
