Oklahoma Christian Academy senior Daeli Robertson recently made the commitment to serve her state and her country by enlisting into the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Becoming part of the world’s greatest fighting force was an easy decision for Robertson.
“I’ve wanted to join the military ever since I was five years old and honestly the reason, I chose the National Guard is because I feel like it will be the best fit for me,” said Robertson.
With a family history of military service, joining the military was a natural fit for Robertson.
“My family does have a military history. My papa was in the U.S. Navy my uncle was in the U. S. Army National Guard and my other uncle is currently in the Air National Guard,” said Robertson.
As a student-athlete at OCA, Robertson is a member of the varsity basketball and softball teams. She is also part of the Duo committee.
“I feel like being involved in sports will help me out in basic because in basketball season we do quite a bit of running to always stay sharp and quick,” said Robertson.
National Guard recruiter SGT Benjamin Lucas said of Robertson, “In the small amount of time that I have spent around here, she is a superstar and a great addition to our National Guard family.”
When Robertson graduates basic training and completes AIT (Advanced Individual Training), she will become a 92 yankee, which is a Unit Supply Specialist.
“I love that I got this amazing opportunity to really do something for others and not just do it for myself I want to help and serve others as much as I can,” said Robertson.
Away from school you can usually find Robertson hanging out with friends and family.
“I love hanging out with my friends from school and my friends outside of school I also love volunteering at make promises happen which is a special needs camp,” said Robertson.
