Athletes put in a lot of work and determination in order to be the best player and competitor they can be. The athlete’s goals and the level of success that they reach will all depend on what they are willing to invest. Caden Russell says that he has done a lot throughout his career to ensure that he is ready to meet whatever challenge comes his way.
“The most important key is working hard,” he said. “It’s hitting every line in down-and-backs, hitting an extra set in the weight room, or pushing yourself to be better than every other person out there. I have always tried to work hard, push through adversity, and be the best player I can be.”
Caden is a senior at Bridge Creek High School, where he plays multiple sports for the Bobcats. He plays center as a member of the basketball team, while on the baseball field, he switches between first base, third base, and pitcher. He is also a member of the cross country team.
Throughout his life, there have been many people that have had an impact on Russell’s life and helped shape him into the person and the athlete that he is today.
“Some of the biggest influences on my life are my coaches, grandparents, and parents,” he stated. “My coaches have always played a big role in developing me into the person I have become today. My grandparents have always been there for me when I need them and they love me unconditionally. My dad has always pushed me to work hard at everything I do and he is the person that I look up to the most. Finally last but most definitely not least, my mom has always been there for me and has always been the person by my side. I remember traveling all over the country playing both baseball and basketball and she was always there to support me. She is one of the most caring and most compassionate people I know. She loves everyone and I know she would do anything to help me succeed.
Away from sports, Caden is also a member of the National Honor Society, student council, chess club, FFA, and the academic team.
