GIRLS
Coach: Lindsey Vanderburg
20-21 Record: 11-12
Coach Lindsey Vanderburg is excited to return the nucleus of what could be an excellent team this season. “This year’s team will be made of an experienced core group of girls. A group who have bought into the process of what it takes to win,” said coach Vanderburg.
Landry George (5-8, Jr.) is developing into an all-around shooter according to coach Vanderburg. Last season she averaged 10 points and 3.0 rebounds a game. Taryn Contrell (5-11, So.) has great size and is athletic enough to play inside or out. She averaged 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds a game last year. Mackenzie Heeke (5-6, Jr.) is a quick defender, but an offensive threat. Her 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds are crucial for the overall success of the team. Jacy Vinson (5-7, Jr.) is a strong player on both ends of the court. Vinson averaged 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest last season. Also look for Landry Barefoot who coach Vanderburg calls a “high-character student-athlete.” Barefoot is involved in many things around campus and is a leader amongst her peers. The Lady Bears have a chance at putting together a nice season if they can stay healthy and a few younger players can mature into various roles that will allow coach Vanderburg to be flexible with the lineup and substitutions.
