Becky Karber is a Mustang mother of five, where she used to be the booster club treasurer for the past two years for the boys’ soccer team. Karber has three biological boys, Walker, Weston, and Wyatt, and also takes care of two other boys, Louis and Julian. Walker is a senior and three-year starter on the Broncos soccer squad. Julian is also a senior and is an all-district defender on the Broncos soccer team. Louis graduated from Mustang last year and was an honorable mention for all-state last season as a midfielder. This season, the Broncos are 12-0 in Class 6A, outscoring their opponents 45-2 this season.
Both Walker and Julian have offers to play soccer at the collegiate level but are still deciding whether they want to continue playing their favorite sport or focus strictly on academics.
“We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to spend this time watching them develop their god-given talents and work toward their goals,” Karber said. “Building relationships with their friends, coaches, and other parents is another part of this life we love. I enjoy watching them work toward something that they love and learn to be a part of a team and set goals.”
Karber also graduated from Mustang, while her husband, Jeff, graduated from her rival school, Yukon. The high school sweethearts have been married for 21 years now and have enjoyed watching their kids play soccer as well as the other Mustang kids over the years.
“Mustang is a very unique city,” Karber said. “The school district is large, but there is a small town feel to the community. I believe this is because we still have one high school, and everyone is on the same team. I loved attending school in Mustang, and I’m thankful my kids are getting the same opportunity.”
