OCS’s Brooke Davis – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Integris Health

By Ember McElrath

Brooke Davis started playing soccer when she was four years old. One might say her love for the sport was born out of necessity. Her father is in the U.S. Air Force, so with a family that moved a lot growing up she could always count on soccer to be there.

“No matter where we were, soccer was my way of making friends and finding people that I really loved,” Brooke said. “I think this is where my love for the game comes from because the girls on the team are what make it so great for me.”

Now a junior at Oklahoma Christian School, Brooke has a great work ethic that keeps her striving for new heights and a loving home that keeps her balanced.

“My support system at home is everything for me,” Brooke said. “My parents have always been really supportive of me as they have pushed me to be my best and when I need help they are always there.”

OCS head coach Jeff Stone had nothing but praise for the midfielder, who he called the leader of the team.

“Brooke is a great midfielder who makes great decisions,” said Stone. “She is like having a coach on the field. She understands the game very well. Brooke is a ‘get things done’ kind of person. Anytime you ask her to do something, her answer is, ‘Yes sir.’ Brooke is also the leader off the field. She is 100% team-first. She has created a culture where girls are not afraid to try. There is no fear on this team.”

Between a busy soccer schedule, academics, and being involved with student council, it might be easy to feel overwhelmed at times. But Brooke leans on her faith for peace and strength.

“When life gets hard, I know that my circumstances do not define me, but I find stability in my faith in Jesus Christ,” she said.

After all these years of playing soccer her favorite memory comes from after she and her team won their second playoff game that led to the semifinals.

“OCS girls soccer had never made it that far before, and the realization set in that we were finally achieving what everyone told us we had a shot to do,” she said.

With Brooke’s dedication to excellence, she will surely go on to do great things in her life.
