When you are a parent of school age children, you can sometimes get pulled in multiple directions. With school, sports, your own job, family stuff, and anything else that happens to come up there’s a lot going on. While all this is true, Stasha Howard may have had a bit more work with five boys in her house and all playing sports.
“I have five boys,” she said. “Koby played soccer at Yukon and graduated in 2015. Dylan graduated in 2020 and was a four-year varsity tennis player. Aydan is a senior and has been on the varsity swim team for four years and holds several school records. He also swims for Bison Aquatic Club. Trevor is a sophomore on the high school junior varsity and varsity basketball team. He also plays AAU basketball for Team OK. Brandt is a sixth grader and plays AAU basketball for Team OK.”
Sports is in the family genes as Stasha was a three-year letterman in soccer when she graduated from Yukon High School. She was also All-Conference during two of those years.
And while it sounds like she has her hands full with all of her boys’ sports, Howard also has a job. She is a Lactation Consultant at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. All of this does not allow her a lot of free time, but when she has some, she enjoys going to the lake and hanging out with her family.
Though her kids being involved in sports may consume some of her time, Stasha knows that it is the best thing for the kids.
“I feel like sports are good for mental and physical health,” she said. “So I am all for my boys playing.”
You may not always find Stasha in the stands at her boys’ sporting events and there is a good reason for that.
“I volunteer for their club team with score keeping, recording games, hospitality, and ‘team mom duties’. I have been involved with the booster clubs for each sport and for the last two years I have been the swim booster club president and the VP of meals for the boys’ basketball team.”
