Practice is an important part of being successful at anything. As an athlete, you have to be mentally and physically prepared to compete. Lane Hahn says one thing that really helps him is going up against his teammates during golf practice.
“I enjoy battling with my teammates Tyler and Ty the most,” he stated. “We just mess around with each other and have fun but we’re also really competitive with each other. And that makes each of us better athletes.”
Lane is a senior at Tecumseh High School where he is a member of the golf team. He has worked hard to get where he is, but he says he also owes a lot to two important people.
“In order to be successful in golf it takes a lot of practice,” he stated. “You also have to be dedicated, not to just being at the competitions but also to put in the amount of practice that you need. Both my grandpas are my role models and I want to accomplish as much as they have. I want to have the same skills in golf as my grandpa Dean and have a cattle farm as big as my grandpa Charlie’s. They have shown me so much and taught me a lot of things as well as helped me become who I am.”
Over his career, Lane has had a number of memorable moments and good shoots. But he says that there is one shot that he would call his favorite and it helped get a round of golf started on the right foot.
“My favorite shot would have to be my chip-in for birdie at the Purcell Tournament,” he recalled. “It was on the first hole of the day and it felt good to get a start like that.”
Along with playing sports, Hahn is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Youth Alive.
