Yukon Millers Football Preview – Presented By Roger Karns of Shelter Insurance

MARSHALL HAHN

4-7

OFFENSE

Marshall Hahn takes over as head coach of the Yukon Millers after three years at the school. The Millers return six offensive starters in 2022 for Hahn and his spread option offensive attack. “We want to make teams defend the entire width of the field,” Hahn said. He wants to catch defenses napping, wear them down physically, and take advantage of exploitable opportunities for big gains. Ethan Keen (5-11, 260, Sr.) is a veteran up front and will anchor the line in the trenches and open up running opportunities. Tight end Kaden Morey (6-5, 220, Sr.) provides a flexibility in offensive schemes with his ability to pass-catch in the flat or down the seam and provides additional blocking off the edge or downfield. Wide receivers Ezra Johnson (6-0, 165, Sr.) and Heath Sperry (5-9, 155, Sr.) can stretch the field, find open space to exploit, and make plays with the ball in their hands. Running back Logan Day (5-10, 200, Jr.) will look to make things happen by either lowering his shoulder and running through a defender or getting outside and picking up yardage down the sideline.

DEFENSE

Five defensive starters return to the Millers 4-2-5 base defense. Coach Hahn and the Millers want to limit explosive plays and keep the offense underneath their coverage. Brayden Brock (6-3, 225, Sr.) is a veteran presence up front and can collapse the pocket in a hurry. Linebacker Spencer Scott (5-10, 215, Sr.) has good size and speed at linebacker and can shrink the field. Defensive backs Grayson Dinh (5-9, 155, Sr.) and Logan Troxell (5-9, 165, Sr.) will look to use their speed outside to shut down the passing attack and force turnovers. In 2022 Hahn wants to see his defense play sound defense, force opponents into making mistakes, and take advantage of opportunities.
