Christian Heritage Crusaders Football Preview – Presented By Danielle Hill and Joe White with Shelter Insurance

JOEL FRANKS

4-6

OFFENSE

Putting his mark on the Christian Heritage program, head coach Joel Franks believes the building blocks are in place for this team to take that next step. “We had an average year last year with a very tough district and only four seniors. This upcoming year we are going down a class and have a great group of seniors. The kids work incredibly hard and are dedicated to having success this year,” said coach Franks. Eight starters are back on offense including Kye Davis (6-2, 200, Sr.) at tight end and fullback. Davis, a VYPE Top 100 selectee, is a strong runner and tough to bring to the ground. Davis will play a role in the passing game as well. A trio of receivers will dot the lineup for the Crusaders including Nate Jines (5-10, 150, Sr.), Jake Hale (6-2, 180, Sr.) and Eli Hill (6-0, 170, Sr.). All three will look to contribute to the spread zone offense coach Franks will run this season. If quarterback Zach Harris (6-0, 180, Sr.) can find the open man, this team will put up solid numbers in the passing game. Also look for running back Christian Mills (6-0, 180, Sr.) to play a big role this year.

DEFENSE

Coach Nick Davis, the defensive coordinator, will implement the 3-3 Stack defense which can easily shift to a two-high 3-4 look according to coach Davis. Bryce Graham (6-0, 185, Jr.) is an important piece to that 3-3 puzzle. Graham makes quick reads and flows well to the ball. Hale and Jines will both play in the secondary with Hale starting at one of the corner spots and Jines playing safety. Davis will start at end giving the team someone who can pressure from the edge and force teams to adjust or go away from his side of the field. Hill will join Graham at linebacker giving the team another player who can pursue and make plays. Also look for guys like Ethan Day, Cooper Kemery, and Caleb Gideon to have an impact on the team this season.
