OFFENSE
The Tecumseh Savages will bring age and varying degrees of experience to their multiple set offense in 2022. Marquan Krush (6-2, 170, Jr.) who played quarterback for just one game last year will get his chance at a full season this year. A three-sport athlete, Krush drew praise from head coach Ty Bullock. “He’s a great kid, a tremendous athlete and true leader of our team who will be big time for us on and off the field.” The Savages have a couple of athletes who will contribute at running back led by Shaun Hill (6-0, 165, So.) who started the last three games last year and Connor Barksdale (5-9, 190, Sr.) who rotated in and out of the lineup last year and had 275 yards rushing. Krush should have a good variety of guys he can throw to this season including Parker Williams (5-11, 150, Sr.) who played in the slot last season, Darrien Clark (6-2, 170, So.) who made an impact last year after being brought up from the freshman team along with Teyquan Krush (5-9, 150, Sr.) and Kadyn Prado (5-11, 220, So.) at tight end. Opening the holes and giving protection up front will be Brody Moody (5-10, 220, Sr.) who saw a lot of action last year and Justice Romena (5-10, 225, Sr.).
DEFENSE
Many of the same guys will play on both sides of the ball including Marquan Krush at strong safety, Hill at free safety. Romena and Moody in the defense front with Wyatt England (6-2, 235, Sr.) who had 53 tackles and 10.5 sacks last season and Keegan Plumley (6-3, 220, Jr.) at the ends with Barksdale and Moody spelling them, when necessary. Linebacker looks to be the heart of the defense with the return of Hunter Hadsall (5-10, 195, Sr.) and Jace Frazier (5-9, 180, Sr.) who combined for 233 tackles last year along with Braxton Meier (5-10, 175, So.). “Jace is a three-year starter and the leader of our defense. Hunter played hurt last year which is a testament to his toughness and he’s the smartest kid on the field. Braxton is an extremely hard worker and one of the fastest guys on the team,” said Bullock. The Krush brothers, Teyquan and Marquan, will provide the speed in the secondary to lockdown would be receivers. There will be some changes for the Savages in District 4A-2 this year with Newcastle, Bridge Creek and Bethany replacing Cushing, Ada and John Marshall.
