Edmond Santa Fe’s Chris Fitzpatrick – “Talk of the Tailgate” presented by Taco Bueno

For nearly as long as he’s been alive, Edmond Santa Fe senior Chris Fitzpatrick has been on the football field doing what he loves, playing football. Now a senior on the Wolves football team, Fitzpatrick said being on this team is like having another family he can lean on.

“I’ve been playing the game of football since third grade. Always loved the game and how physical you can be. It’s my emotional escape,” said Fitzpatrick. “I love that my teammates care about each other like we’ve known each other since kids. It’s a tight family here at Santa Fe, that’s why we always strive to be the best. This team is special and have changed my life.”

Taking the field on Friday night is always a special moment thanks to the fans and parents who are in the stands.

“The fans make it special. The students that go to Santa Fe are amazing. They come to every game no matter where the game is at and they show out and go crazy,” said Fitzpatrick.

A big reason Fitzpatrick is the talk of the tailgate this season is his play at linebacker. Head coach Kyle White said of Fitzpatrick, “Chris is a great young man and plays the game the right way. He’s an excellent teammate and leader.”

The senior said he loves making big plays in big games and said one day when he has graduated and moved on, he will miss the crowd and his classmates.

“I will miss playing in front of all my friends in the city,” said Fitzpatrick. “ESF (Edmond Santa Fe) is very different, you will see every ethnicity, prep rallies, so many culture groups, great sports, you will always find a way to fit in and be comfortable,” Fitzpatrick said. “My plans are to go play college football. I am looking for the school that fits me.” Fitzpatrick said after the game is over the team says a prayer and begins preparation for next week.
