Tuttle’s Skyler Rodgers – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Patriot Heat and Air

Rodgers, a shortstop began playing softball at four years old and has been focused on giving maximum effort ever since.

“Being a leader is not about what I may want, but more about what the team needs,” explained Rodgers. “True leadership is about building up those around you and helping them become and be their best.”

Tuttle coach Rebecca Cobb confirms that Rodgers leads by example.

“Sky does whatever it takes. Her work ethic example comes from her heart,” Cobb explained. “She’s a difference maker who quietly leads by her actions.”

The commitment to her softball family is a reflection of the Rodgers’ family DNA exampled at home.

“My family have inspired me to become the person I am today. My dad spends hours working with my little brother and me, taking us to the barn, to the field, sometimes just out in our front yard. He is always there helping me be the best softball player and athlete that I can be,” said Rodgers. “Mom is my constant positive vibe, she keeps me grounded, helping me with my mental game and health. My little brother has literally been my #1 fan from day one.”

In the classroom the Rodgers maintains a 4.12 GPA and ranking first in her class.

Last season Tuttle reached the semifinals but missed out on a trip to the state championship.

“Nothing compares to what it feels like playing in the state tournament wearing your school name on the front of your jersey, playing for your community alongside girls you go to school with every day,” said Rodgers.

“Last year was a heartbreaker and this season has been a battle. It’s given me
drive and determination to step up in big situations when my team needs me.”

Driven, dependable and genuine are traits used to describe Rodgers. whose softball hero is Sis Bates, an Olympian who also wears the number-22 jersey.

While winning is among the important things in her life, the opportunity for Rodgers to follow her moral compass ranks at the top of the list.

“Character is what drives you to be YOU, being confident enough in yourself to do the right thing,” Rodgers said. “I hope my character reflects that of the God I serve. My goal is for others to see His light shine through me, on and off the field.”
