Shawnee’s Landon Davis-Barkus – “Talk of the Tailgate” presented by Taco Bueno

If you’re going to dream, you might as well dream big. That’s exactly what Shawnee High School’s Landon Davis-Barkus is doing.

The Shawnee High School senior is a 6-foot-1, 212-pound two-way starter at running back on offense and linebacker/safety on defense. He is committed to play for Oklahoma Baptist University next year and has dreams of following in the footsteps of former Shawnee standout Creed Humphrey and one day playing in the National Football League.

As one of the leaders on the team, Davis-Barkus is focused on helping his team win and getting the most out of every play.

“Regardless of the turnout this season, we stuck together. I love the young guys and the personalities they bring you may never know what is going to happen with those guys,” said Davis-Barkus.

On the field, it’s all business for Davis-Barkus and the Wolves. However, they do know when to enjoy the moment.

“My favorite moment came my freshman year when coach Brown was the coach and coach Shaw was the defensive backs coach. My father gave him pre-workout before the game and coach kept saying, “Man I’m itching, anybody got some water so I can flush this out?”

Davis-Barkus said he will miss playing at Shawnee and representing the school, but what he will miss most are his teammates.

“What I will miss most are the young players for sure. Over everything, I will miss the young guys,” said Davis-Barkus.
