21-22 Record: 25-2
Last season the Tuttle Tigers finished runner-up in Class 4A after falling to Classen SAS in the championship game and are looking to have another great season. The Tigers return two starters from last year’s team and several players who gained lots of experience throughout the playoff run. “We have a great mixture of youth and experience, and our team should see constant improvement from start to finish this season,” head coach Jamie Combs said. “I believe we have a chance to make a strong run to the Big House again this year and will be very competitive with every team we play.”
Leading the way for the Tigers is VYPE Top 100 player Landry Allen (6-3, Sr.) who has already committed to the University of Oklahoma. Over the course of her career Allen has achieved 1,081 points, 649 rebounds, 380 blocks, 111 assists, and 107 steals. As one of the top players in the state, expect Allen to have a fantastic senior season even while drawing the attention of opponents every night.
Allie Rehl (5-9, Jr.) is another VYPE Top 100 player and is not to be overlooked. Rehl and Allen are the only other returning starters from the state runner-up team and combine for a great one-two punch. Rehl is a tough guard who can finish at the rim, has a mid-range pull up jumper, and can shoot the ball from deep. She has already drawn the attention of some Division II schools and with two more years of solid play should pick up more offers to play at the next level.
Marissa Sandlin (5-5, Fr.) is strong, athletic and can play inside or out. She has impressed coaches in the preseason and may crack the starting lineup, but at the very least will find herself playing in the main rotation. “She is not afraid to take the ball to the basket and has the ability to finish creatively at the rim,” Combs said. “Her three-point shot is developing as well and she has improved a lot just over the course of the summer.”
Ava Battles (5-6, Jr.) is one of the hardest working players in Tuttle and will control the offense this year from the point guard position. Battles is a great defender, and most nights will be tasked with guarding the opponent’s best player. Coaches rave about her vocal leadership and willingness to compete in any situation.
Other players to look for include: Samantha Teague (5-8, Jr.), Mya Sisson (5-5, Jr.), Kinzley Battles (5-8, So.), Mikole Skaggs (5-4, Jr.), Kyndell Cummings (5-6, So.), Audrey Hardin (5-5, So.), Layla Kerr (5-10, Jr.), Ellie Dombek (5-9, So.), and Elyssa Kaniatobe (5-6, Sr.).
