Carl Albert senior Ta’Shawn James has been named a football All-State selection by the Oklahoma Coaches Association.
The 2023 OCA All-State game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, July 28. James will represent the West team as a corner, where he will join Carl Albert senior and fellow 2022 5A state champion Reed DeQuasie in the secondary.
The OCA has not announced a venue for the game.
“Ta’Shawn is a great athlete and an even better human being,” said Carl Albert coach Mike Dunn, who likened James to former Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor. “He controls the middle of the field and is a hard-hitter with great cover skills to boot. . . He’s truly a field general and makes our defense tick.”
James signed Dec. 21 to play at Iowa State. He also had offers from Tulsa and Northern Iowa.
