Southmoore baseball will field a group of talented underclassmen this spring.
“We are excited about our group this year. There will be a lot of new faces on the field that we are excited to watch compete all season long,” Southmoore head coach Dakota Haines said.
Sophomore Kasen Rinehart, no underclassman in experience, is among the team’s returning contributors in the outfield, infield and on the mound.
“Kasen will be towards the top of our lineup this spring. He is a sophomore that started for us last year as a freshman in a senior-heavy lineup,” Haines said. “We look to him to provide experience and leadership to this year’s team.”
Another sophomore, Jake Koweno, will play a “vital role” for the SaberCats at third base and in the pitching staff.
“We look at Jake seeing time all over the field as well as on the mound,” Haines said.
Junior Andre Landeros saw “a lot of success” for Southmoore last year and is expected for another big campaign.
Senior Jacob Hayes is one of few veterans on the squad.
“He [Hayes] is always willing to do what is best for the team,” Hayes said. “He will play all over the field for us and be a true captain for our group this year.”
