VYPE: Why was Central Arkansas softball the right place for you?
Renee Christian: UCA was the right place for me because when I finally got to the campus, it was just a great environment. I love all of the coaches and the girls there, and overall it just seemed like a great program to be a part. That was also one of the few schools that I was able do my desired major (nursing).
VYPE: After winning state in the 4×100 and 4×200 last year, what are your goals for this track season? Do you want to win gold in your individual races?
RC: After winning the 4×100 and 4×200 last year my goals for this track season was to keep it going and keep our relays fast and get us to the first-place spot on the state podium. I definitely want to win gold in my individual events, but I recently injured my hamstring so I do not know for sure if I will be better in time for me to run a No. 1 time at regionals to get to state.
VYPE: How has running track helped/complimented your softball game?
RC: Running track definitely has helped compliment my softball game by giving me the technique and skill to be able to run the base paths fast. It has also given me the ability to run fast to track down the ball in the outfield.
VYPE: What was the opportunity like to run at Texas Relays? What did you take away
from that experience?
RC: For me to have the opportunity to run at Texas Relays was amazing both years. all the new people I met, saw, and raced against was such a surreal feeling. Seeing the pros and collegiate track runners run in person was truly incredible. What I took away from that is that there is always people who are faster than you and that’s it is you against the clock.
VYPE: How did it feel to see your name on the All-State fast pitch list?
RC: To see my name on the all state fast pitch list was a great feeling. There was lots of competition and girls who are great so being on there was a blessing.
VYPE: What does it mean to you to be a Westmoore Jaguar?
RC: Being a Westmoore Jaguar to me means that I have a family within this school.
