Edmond North’s Dax Brown Spotlight Supported By Danielle Hill, Shelter Insurance

Dax Brown is a track and field athlete for Edmond North High School. Throughout his career, he has invested a lot of time and effort so that he can be his best whenever competition time comes. The desire to continually improve his skill and abilities is something that he picked up from two of his role models.
“My dad and Rocky Marciano are the two people that I look up to the most,” he said. “They both have incredible determination and they are both hard workers. It takes a lot to be a successful athlete. Hard work, determination, mental fortitude, and a little bit of talent can go a long way.”

A sophomore, Dax competes in the high jump and the long jump. Outside of sports, he is also a member of the National Honor Society.

When Brown steps out onto the campus of Edmond North, he knows that he is carrying on a tradition of his family.

“Representing my school is a legacy,” he said. “My mom went to North and was the first graduating class and my uncle also went there for his senior year. So for me, I am representing everybody that came before me.”

Andrew Pletan is Dax’s track coach at Edmond North and he says he is a great athlete and an outstanding teammate.
“Dax was a point-scoring high jumper at the state championship last year,” Pletan said. “He is an exceptionally hard worker that is continually looking for opportunities to improve as a jumper. As a sophomore, he is already showing leadership qualities with his teammates as his love for the sport has grown with more knowledge and experience.”

In the classroom, Brown says that while he has learned from several teachers throughout his educational journey, there is one that stands out as his favorite.

“Mrs. Roan is who I consider my favorite teacher,” he said. “She taught me to be more chill and made me love reading.”

When he is not on the track or practicing, Dax enjoys checking up on his social media.

“KSI is my favorite person to follow,” he said. “He is a boxer, a YouTuber, and musician. He proved to me that you can use him to be successful in different areas of your life.”
