Carl Albert senior Emily Boyer is enjoying a memorable year of high school. The volleyball and tennis player is a force on either court and in the classroom.
Boyer said her family, teachers and coaches have influenced her to work hard on and off the court.
“Some of my biggest influences are my family and my coaches. They motivate me to be the best athlete and person I can be. The teacher that has had the biggest impact on my life would have had to have been my English teacher, Ms. Kellar, because she made me love to write and always had a good time,” said Boyer.
The path to success has not been easy, but Boyer believes the sacrifices are worth the reward.
“What motivates me is my goals and my teammates. It has taken a lot of hard work and determination to achieve my goals,” said Boyer.
Boyer said the highlight of her tennis career came when she took the podium with her teammates as they were crowned champions, twice.
“It means so much that I get to represent my school and community and it makes me feel so grateful for this opportunity,” said Boyer. “I think our team is very appreciated all around and we are so blessed to have everyone on our team.”
Boyer said she enjoys competing against the boys’ tennis team at Carl Albert. As a No. 1 doubles player, Boyer said she enjoys the challenge of competing against and being pushed by the boys.
“I think I like playing against our boys tennis team because they are constantly challenging me and pushing me to get better,” said Boyer.
Boyer is currently involved in several other activities around campus including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, and Key Club.
