OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SAINTS
Coach: TANNER ROOF
9-3
OFFENSE
Head coach Tanner Roof takes over the OCS football program, which is exciting for the OCS faithful as well as the coach who brings a wealth of experience to the OCS coaching staff. Joining Roof are assistant coaches Chad Enloe, Garret Sullivan, Logan Parks, Steve Ray, Mitch McKee, Diego Zavarce, and Scott Burger. “We are really excited about this team. I really like the character and leadership of this group. There is a lot of excitement and energy going into the season,” said Roof. With eight starters returning from a 9-3 season, the expectations are already in place. Quarterback Garrett Wilson (6-2, 205, Sr.) is back after completing 69 balls for 1,101 yards and 12 touchdowns a year ago. Wilson is joined in the backfield by Brandon Orme (5-10, 185, Sr.) at running back. As a junior, Orme rushed for 962 yards on 149 attempts with nine TDs. He also added nearly 100 yards in receiving. Kyler Brown (5-10, 165, Sr.) could become the main target in the passing game. Brown saw action last year and is an effective receiver. Luke Gray (6-8, 235, Sr.) caught 18 passes for 455 yards and five TDs last season. Gray is big target in the passing game and someone who can be effective blocking in the run game. Look for the Saints to play with tempo and keep the opposing defense guessing. Jacob Green (6-5, 245, Sr.) will start at tackle and Trent Belford (6-0, 215, Sr.) will start at guard. Together they bring leadership to the offensive line and set the tone for the Saints with their physical play up front. Green is back after suffering an injury last season and is ready for his best season of prep football.
DEFENSE
Henry Rothwell (6-1, 180, Sr.) is the name to watch at free safety. Rothwell finished last season with 51 tackles and one interception. Mason Lopex (5-10, 165, Sr.) joins Rothwell in the secondary where he picked off three passes last season and made 10 tackles. Nick Brooks (6-0, 200, Sr.) starts at linebacker and was responsible for 15 tackles and a sack as a junior. Brooks can also play defensive end. At tackle look for Ryder Gray (5-10, 190, Sr.). Gray is a force on the defensive line. Last season he accounted for 31 tackles with three sacks. Alex Freiburg (5-10, 175, Sr.) is another downhill type of linebacker that plays a physical brand of football. Freiburg made 29 tackles and two sacks last season. Hayden Brake (5-9, 220, Sr.) will play linebacker as well, but also contribute on special teams as the long snapper. Brake has a snap time of .67. Coach Roof will employ a 3-3 stack defense and play sound, disciplined football.
