CARL ALBERT TITANS
Coach: GARRETT WAGES
OUTLOOK
Led by seniors Ausha Moore, Kaylee Davis, Shelby Rusche, Londyn McNair and Arianna Harmon, Carl Albert has a strong foundation returning in 2023 under head coach Garrett Wages. The Titans, who went 24-12 and reached the Class 5A State Tournament semifinals last year, will be in good position for a championship run again this season. Rusche, a VYPE Top 100 nominee and Rogers State commit, is a three-year starter and hit .441 with four home runs and 43 RBIs as a junior. “For the last three seasons, Shelby has been a pleasure to coach,” Wages said. “With her great defense and great bat, she has been a true spark plug for Carl Albert. She is a hard worker and has one of the best gloves I’ve seen in softball.”
Moore, another three-year starter for the Titans, is a strong leader and a North Texas commit. She hit .470 with six home runs and drove in 37 runs in 2022. “Ausha has always come to the field to get better, and it’s paid off for her,” Wages said. “She works hard every single day, and doesn’t take a day for granted. She will continue to be the leader of this team for this upcoming season. The amount of passion she plays with is contagious and ignites others.” Davis, a University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma commit, batted .424, hit five home runs, finished with 20 RBIs and stole 24 bases last season. “Kaylee has continued to improve each and every season,” Wages said. “She is always finding ways to improve as a player, teammate and person. She has been a three-year starter and will continue to do what it takes to help her team win.” Bailey Rusche also returns after making an impact as a freshman catcher in 2022, hitting .338. “As an incoming freshman, Bailey had big shoes to fill as she was tasked with being the everyday catcher,” Wages said. “She was a vital part to the team’s success. Bailey will continue to get better each and every year, and we at Carl Albert can’t wait to see the things she’ll accomplish.” Brenna Choate also returns as a valuable piece to the Titans’ roster. “Brenna has been someone who comes to the field, and will do whatever is asked of her,” Wages said. “To catching bullpens, to playing infield, outfield, and to catching games if needed, Brenna will do whatever is asked of her. She always comes to practice ready to do whatever is asked of her, and the energy she plays with is something that her teammates and coaches love to see.”
