Westmoore’s Matthew Carmen – Cheer Spotlight – Presented By Sun & Ski Sports

Matthew Carmen, a Senior at Westmoore High School, is “All in” for Cheer. He’s a top notch balancer for sure since he’s been balancing a 4.0 GPA throughout High School while handling the responsibilities of competitive cheer.

Matthew is focused on the prize and continues to move forward and work hard, as he has been so inspired by his mother to do. He is also inspired by his grandmother who has taught him the significance of being thoughtful and considerate of others.

Early impressions seemed to have stuck with Matthew as he remembers Mrs. Spiva from his freshman year geometry class and how she was caring and connecting with her students, always making sure they were ok. These are the character traits that stand out to Matthew and ones he strives to walk in.

Kindness also sticks out in his mind and forces him to take notice, like the kindness from Jada Higgins from his first year at Tribe Cheer. She set the standard for Matthew with her courtesy and sincerity. He will not forget it. It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of academia and Matthew enjoys representing his High School in such a creative and competitive outlet.

There are always opportunities to be concerned with the opinions of others but Matthew is solid, he requires no validation from anyone but himself. He bakes, he cooks, he cheers and he has a 4.0 GPA….I’d say he’s doing it right.
