Braxton Hartsock – Community Christian School – Athlete Spotlight Presented by RibCrib

By Trina Walker

For Braxton Hartsock, playing on the football and basketball team is more than just
another school activity; it is a brotherhood. This senior at Community Christian
School is dedicated to his team and community.
Braxton and his basketball team were rewarded for this dedication his sophomore
year by playing in the state championship game.

“We lost by a last second shot, I enjoyed every minute until the last second,” he said.
Despite the loss, playing in that game is the best memory he has made in school
sports up to this point.
“I enjoy being able to give the people at my school something to watch,”he says. “I
just love to play sports, to compete and to be challenged in life.”
Braxton does not remember a time when he was not involved in athletics. “I have
been playing sports since I could walk ,” he said. His dedication to athletics and
being on a team has taught him to work hard and never give up.
The teammate who made the biggest impression on Braxton is Bai Jobe. “He (Bai) is
now playing for Michigan State and was my teammate. He was a crazy athlete and
helped me become a better athlete,”says Braxton.
“I want to say thank you to my parents for always supporting me and making me the
person I am today,”says Braxton. He is inspired by his dad, for pushing him to be the
best he can be and would most like to spend his summer vacation at the beach with
his mom.
Braxton wants to mention his favorite teacher, Mrs. Bell, “she always supports me
and challenges me to be better.”
Braxton has always served at school, church and camp. The best advise he has
been given is to work for God and not man.
