Hi, what are you looking for?

Mid-Del

9 Qs with Midwest City basketball player Roy Henderson — Presented by Candace Cunningham Shelter Insurance

VYPE: You led the conference in scoring as a junior. Can we expect similar numbers from you this year?
Roy Henderson: Yes sir, and honestly I will put on an even better scoring clinic this year. I’ve been working all summer. I think I will be hard to guard.

VYPE: What are some of the things you’ve been working on this offseason?
RH: In the weight room getting stronger and also working on finishing around the rim, trying to dunk everything, and also being more efficient from the three.

VYPE: How have you, personally, and your teammates adapted to playing for coach Noel? What does he bring to the table that will help you be successful this year?
RH: I think we adapted good, and for me, I think I adapted the best because I played for him before and he had high expectations, but he’s bringing discipline to the fullest and we are getting better all day everyday.

VYPE: How did your basketball journey start? How old were you when you started playing and who introduced you to the game?
RH: My basketball journey started when I was watching LeBron on TV and Kobe. They are my inspiration. I know I’m special. I know I can be better than them guys.

VYPE: What are your best skills on the floor?
RH: I can do everything, but my best is I’m an offensive threat. I can score whenever and on whoever, and also my passing and rebounding. I will have a lot of assists and rebounds this season.

VYPE: How far can the Midwest City Bombers go this year?
RH: I think we can win state but we gotta stay the course and pay attention to all details.

VYPE: Which teammate, past or present, has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
RH: Probably Kevin Overton or Israel Hart. They took me in. They knew I was gonna be good, but they always pushed me, made me wait, made me pay attention to detail, told me right from wrong.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame snack?
RH: Skittles, the purple pack.

VYPE: What are your future goals?
RH: To go to the NBA, that’s the only option, and I think I will make it. I’m very slept on right now, but everyone will wake up when they watch this season.
