JONES LADY LONGHORNS

GIRLS

Coach: Jenni Holbrook

22-23 Record: 25-5

Coming off their third consecutive state championship, the Jones Lady Longhorns are looking for four in a row, but it will not be easy. “We lost four key seniors that helped lead the way to those titles,” says Jones head coach Jenni Holbrook. “But we have many girls waiting to fill those shoes. They are ready to prove to themselves, the school, and the community that they are ready. We have a tough schedule that will hopefully put us in a position to be ready for the playoffs when the time comes.” Leading the way for Jones is Kasia Hansen (5-7, Sr.). “Kasia has played a key role on the last two state championship teams,” Holbrook says. “She averaged just over 10.0 points last year and is expected to be a key player on this year’s team. Kasia can do it all: pass, shoot, and handle the ball.” Another key player will be center Sofi

Woodson (6-2, Sr.). “She is a long, versatile post,” says Holbrook. “He’s a good rim protector who has the ability to score in a variety of ways and has a soft touch around the basket.” Also returning is Karizma Johnson (5-7, Jr.) who Holbrook says is a strong athlete that can guard any position on the floor. “Karizma is extremely athletic and is an excellent leader for our team,” says Holbrook. “She does all of the little things right and expects her teammates to do so as well. We are excited for her to step into some major roles for us this year.” One young player Holbrook is excited to see step on the floor for Jones is Kitelyn Higgins (5-11, So.). “Kitelyn will play a key role coming off the bench this year for our team,” says Holbrook. “She has an extremely athletic frame and is very coachable. We are excited to see improvement from her this year.” Other key players Jones this year includes Kneah Smith (5-9, Sr.), Riley Smith (5-7, Sr.), Karma Lewis (5-2, Jr.), Jentry Holbrook (5-8, So.), Kaylee Baxter (5-6, Fr.), and Emma Sanders (5-6, Fr.).
