SNU Spotlight: EJ Taylor – Presented by SNU Educational Leadership

SNU

EJ Taylor

Current Southern Nazarene University employee and graduate assistant, EJ Taylor, finished his master’s degree in Sports Management in order to help him professionally as he pursues a career as a coach.

“SNU was the right school for me to pursue my master’s degree because of the opportunity to play the game I love and the opportunity to start my coaching career,” said Taylor.

Furthering his career as a coach will alloy Taylor to continue working with athletes on multiple levels.

“This degree will help my career in many ways and the most importantly it helps me have option in the sports world, meaning that if I want to coach in college, I am able to or be an athletic director in high school I can do that as well,” said Taylor.

As a student at SNU, Taylor said there were many things about being a student-athlete he enjoyed. From training to the classroom, Taylor’s experiences have shaped him as a student and coach.

“I have enjoyed meeting new people and my friends I have gained by being here at the university. My teammates I have met from here are what makes the place memorable,” said Taylor.

The Master’s in Sports Management program gave Taylor the tools he needs to be successful as a professional educator. The course itself brought some pleasant surprises to the student-athlete.

“I was surprised about how much we talk about real life events instead of talking about old things relating to schoolbooks or sporting events that are old or hypothetical situations. I love to talk about the real sporting events,” said Taylor.

Taylor said anyone interested in continuing their education and laying the foundation for a great career, should consider SNU’s master programs.

“The advice I would give would to be yourself. This place will challenge your faith and challenge you to grow as a person. I think it is a great program for the masters.”
