Luther’s Quintin Richardson Athlete Spotlight Presented by Tom Kilburn Shelter Insurance

Luther senior Quintin Richardson knows what it means to face adversity.

The recent winner of the Mid-Del area boys basketball preseason poll winner will miss the early portion of his senior season after suffering an injury in his final football game for the Lions.

“I’m upset about it,” Richardson admitted, “but I’m just gonna take time and come back better than I was before.”

One thing everybody should know about is Q’s work ethic.

“I will outwork anyone you put in front of me,” Richardson said.

It’s been that way since he started playing basketball at 4 years old. It’s even eclipsed his love for football in the time that’s passed.

“My little league football coach asked me if I wanted to play [basketball], and I signed up and have played ever since,” Richardson said.

His biggest strengths are his dominant rebounding and love for the competition. He’s learned “to work hard and push through when things are tough,” as they have been recently, but he also hopes his teammates will learn from his positivity.

“[I] stay positive and encourage them to be the best that they can be. I try to encourage my teammates as often as I can,” Richardson said. “I hope to leave behind a legacy that’s worth remembering. I just want them to remember me for the stuff I’ve done, not just in sports, but all-around.”

After high school, Richardson hopes to take his talents in football or basketball to the collegiate level and pursue a degree.
