At Westmoore High School, Jaycie Daggs emerges as a senior athlete with a strong presence on both the soccer field and the volleyball court. As a senior, Jaycie splits her athleticism between soccer and volleyball. In soccer, she commands the defense as a center back, while in volleyball, she asserts dominance as a middle. The duality of her commitment reflects not only her versatility but also her dedication to honing skills in two distinct arenas.
For Jaycie, the journey transcends the present. Motivated by the anticipation of playing at a collegiate level, she envisions a future shaped by the work she puts in today. “Knowing that this is what I will be doing in college… whatever work I do now will help in my future.”
Rooted in familial bonds, Jaycie acknowledges her family as a cornerstone of influence. “My parents are always pushing me to become better, and my sisters challenge me and give me someone to compete against,” she said.
In the academic realm, Jaycie identifies Coach Deanne Pence as a pivotal figure. Coach Pence not only supported her sports endeavors but also left a lasting impact, demonstrating unwavering support and attending games to cheer Jaycie on.
Reflecting on her illustrious career, Jaycie cherishes the highlight of starting on varsity as a freshman, a testament to her early prowess. The joy of playing alongside both her older and younger sisters adds another layer of fulfillment. When it comes to rivalries, beating Moore and Southmoore to claim city championships holds a special place, while competing against Norman North injects an extra layer of intensity. “I play club soccer in Norman and getting
to compete against some of my club teammates makes for a competitive game.”
In the team dynamics, Jaycie points out London Porter as an unsung hero. Recognizing Porter’s unparalleled work ethic and unwavering commitment, Jaycie emphasizes her crucial role in contributing to the team’s success.
Beyond sports, Jaycie is an active participant in various clubs and activities, including the National Honor Society, senior class council, and Celtic Leadership board.
To Jaycie, wearing the Westmoore soccer jersey carries a profound meaning. It symbolizes a commitment not just to herself but to her school and community. “Knowing this, I believe I must hold myself to a higher standard.”
