Q&A with Southmoore’s Hannah Montoya – Presented by RibCrib

By: Hunter Ferguson

Southmoore soccer player Hannah Montoya spoke to VYPE recently.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals this year are to have a successful season, to compete and have fun, to leave a legacy and set an example for my teammates to look up to.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory would probably have to be attending the Southern Coast Cup in Alabama with our 2022 SHS Soccer team, however I try and cherish every moment I step on the field with these girls.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate that has left the biggest impact on me would be Jayden Dapper. Her positive impact on this program has been something I’ve always looked up to since my freshman year.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

This team is one big family. No matter if we are winning or losing, we are going to support each other, compete for each other, and play for each other. There’s never a dull moment with these girls!

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I do participate in community service projects through National Honors Society, such as helping with our feeder elementary schools, the food bank, and other projects within my community.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I am an involved in multiple clubs/ campus groups such as National Honor Society, Student Leadership Athletic Committee, and I am also a STUCO Senator. I really love being apart of these clubs because it gives me an opportunity to provide a safe yet fun environment for my school and our sports teams, and gives me an opportunity to serve my community!

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

My sport has taught me many lessons that I use in my daily life such as leadership, confidence, communication skills, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and accountability.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

“Control what you can control.” This advice was given to be by Coach S and Coach Webb here at Southmoore. I feel like this is a great piece of advice I can take with me to Dallas Baptist to use on and off the field!

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

I would say my family inspires me the most. They are my biggest support system and always want what’s best for me. My family has taught me some of the most important lessons in my life that I will continue to take with me through each step in my life.
