Carl Albert athlete Evi Mitchell told VYPE about her life.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
This is my comeback year after being out last year with an ACL tear, so my goal is to get back to where I was before my injury and have a positive impact for our team whenever I’m in the game.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Making my 1st three pointer in a varsity game as a freshman and my teammates freaking out and Ausha running onto the court and getting a technical.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Ari Diaz, she took me under her wing when I was a freshman and we became good friends. I strive to play like her because she was a great leader and always gave great effort, and had a positive attitude.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
I love the friendships I have made on this team and this season I’m excited to get to play with my sister, Piper.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I am an adaptive P.E. Tech for our special education class. It’s my favorite part of the day getting to work with those students.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I’m in FCA, Stuco, and NHS. I want to be a positive leader at our school, both academically and athletically as a follower of Christ.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
To be mentally tough and to never give up. Always give your best effort in everything you do.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
You get what you give. Believe in yourself, work hard, and go for what you want.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
My mom and grandma. They support me in everything I do and I know no matter what happens they will always be there for me, ready to cheer me on.
