Q&A with Southmoore’s Abigail Prufert – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by RibCrib

By: Hunter Ferguson

Southmoore soccer player Abigail Prufert spoke to VYPE in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this year are to continue working hard, encourage and help build up my teammates, and to have a super great and fun season.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is the Fort Smith Invitational from my sophomore year. I really connected with my teammates, had so much fun, and we came out with a win.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

I would say my former teammate, Jerry Gamez, left the biggest impression on me. Her determination and big heart left a big impact on me and on the team.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on this team is being part of a group that pushes each other to be the best version of ourselves.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I’m in the National Honor Society, so I participate in community service projects through them. I help out at local elementary schools, at Southmoore events, and more

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I’m in the Social Justice and Equity Committee and National Honor Society. I’m involved with these groups because I want to give back to my community and help others.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Soccer has taught me that it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as I’m working hard to make up for them.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice anyone has ever given me is to take it one step at a time. It’s really allowed me to grow as a person and player.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

My mom is my biggest inspiration. Growing up with her, a strong independent woman, as a role model, made me the person I am today. I am forever grateful for her.
