As a student at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, Yulisa Jimenez is getting a head start on her future. She says that the programs allow her to get hands-on experience in a possible career.
“It helps teach me more about how it would be like to prepare for a real job,” she said. “It also teaches me leadership skills and how to work with others from all over.”
Yulisa is in the Graphic Design program at Gordon Cooper. She says she first learned about the programs offered there at McLoud High School, where she is in her junior year.
“I heard about Gordon Cooper Tech from my school,” she said. “And what made me interested was the opportunity it gave me. In the Graphic Design program, I get the chance to express myself through my own style and art.”
“ ”The time that she has spent at Gordon Cooper as a student has been such a great one that Jimenez would recommend anyone slightly interested should check it out.
“I would say they should definitely take the opportunity and chance to join one of the best experiences,” she stated.
At McLoud, Yulisa is a member of the softball team. She also plays travel ball for the Outsiders and she is a manager for the McLoud basketball team.
Throughout her life, she has had some people that have had a great influence on her, but she says there are two people that have had the biggest impact.
“My biggest role models are my mom and dad,” she said. “They push me to be the best I can be and I push and push to make sure I make them proud there my biggest supporters.”
She has made a lot of memories during her years of playing softball and she enjoys every moment that she spends on the field.
“Honestly, I am thankful for the joy it brings me to be able to play the sport I love and play it with my friends,” she said. “I think my favorite memory from softball would have to be when I hit my first home run.”
Once she graduates from high school, Yulisa plans to attend Oklahoma State University for architecture or graphic design.
