9 Questions with Yukon’s Jasmine Liongco-Le – Presented by PINNACLE Family Health Care

Jasmine Liongco-Le

Yukon High School

VYPE: Jasmine, when did you start playing volleyball?

Jasmine Liongco-Le: I started playing volleyball in 5th grade when I moved back to Oklahoma from Austin Texas. I knew that volleyball was going to be my sport when I played my first year of club and absolutely fell in love with the environment and the game.

VYPE: What’s your favorite memory as a player?
JL: Winning the 2024 AAU National Championships with Oklahoma Charge 17 UA!

VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject or teacher in school?
JL: My favorite subject in school is AP Statistics and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Ward, who was my English teacher my freshmen year and sophomore year!

VYPE: What makes being a student-athlete at YHS great for you?
JL: Yukon High School is a great place for people to learn competitiveness and getting to also learn new techniques and skills from coaches that have different coaching styles than what you’re used to.

VYPE: What position do you play for Yukon?
JL: I prefer to play back row, not only because I’m on the shorter side, but also because I love playing defense, whether it’s a hard driven ball or even a tip right over the block.

VYPE: What teammates keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
JL: One person who keeps everyone laughing on the court is Payton Milhoan. She’s an absolute burst of energy and jokes and she makes everyone’s day just by being herself and she’s never down on herself or anyone on the court. I would say the most serious on the court is probably Kiley Baker and myself. Kiley is one of the most competitive people I’ve met and me and her always are making sure that everyone is doing their job.

VYPE: How do you like to spend your free time?
JL: Hanging out with my friends and family or going to the gym or even playing volleyball during open gyms at community centers to always make sure I get touches in.

VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
JL: My 16’s and 17’s coach Santiago Restrepo. He always told us not to worry about the last point and that after every play it’s always moving onto the next point knowing that the play before didn’t matter anymore but the current play right then and there does.

VYPE: What are your plans for life after high school?
JL: I will be attending Southern Nazarene University for volleyball and majoring in Criminal Justice. After college I hope to crime scene investigator or even coach at Oklahoma Charge.
