Newcastle Racers Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by First National Bank & Trust Co.

The Newcastle Lady Racers have a new coaching staff this season with Nichole Copeland taking the reins of the program. “Our team returns everyone from last year but adds several freshmen who will compete for major playing time as well as an entirely new coaching staff,” Copeland said. “We will definitely have a different look than previous years and our girls have worked tirelessly to change the culture and mindset heading into the season.”

The Lady Racers had a tough season last year finishing with a 3-22 record, but the team gained a lot of valuable experience over the course of the season. The team is still young with only a few seniors on the roster, but the Lady Racers are looking forward to taking a big step forward this year and over the next several years. Expect Coach Copeland to play around with lineups and rotations throughout the year as the team gets used to her new system.

The team kicks off the season December 1st hosting Beggs and then have their first true test of the season a week later at the Okemah Tournament December 8-10. They have two more tournaments in January on the 5th-7th in Hinton then host the Newcastle Sweet Pea on January 19-21st.

The roster includes: Leah Bradley (5-6, Jr.), Lola Meek (5-6, Sr.), Londyn Giles (5-5, So.), Amber Ellis (5-9, Fr.), Reagan Greenroyd (5-7, Fr.), Rylee Heskew (5-5, Fr.), Jayden Lassen (6-0, Jr.), Kyla Martinez (5-4, Sr.), Brylee Scott (6-0, So.), Emerson Abel (6-2, Sr.), Bella Allen (5-3, Fr.), Aubree Rutledge (5-8, Jr.), Payton Wolfe (5-8, Jr.), Natalie Orr (5-5, Sr.), Emma Allen (5-6, Sr.), Cady Crawley, Aubree Nix, Makenna Woodworth, and Carlee Bannister.
