Union City Lady Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented by First National Bank & Trust Co.

Coach: Ludy Griggs
21-22 Record: 14-12
Long time baseball coach and former girls basketball coach Ludy Griggs makes his return to the court after being away from girls basketball for nine seasons. Coach Griggs has coached baseball for 22 years and coached the girls basketball team from 2010-13. He’s excited to be back on the court despite having to replace nearly every starter from last season.

“We graduated six seniors and 90 percent of the playing time. Should have overall better talent this year, but the experience will lack. Bree Goad should lead team in scoring, while Kinzie DeLong will put up her fair share of points as well. Emily Griggs will be a defensive force and shot blocker,” said coach Griggs. Bree Goad (So.) has plenty of upside to her game. She is quick with or without the ball and shoots with good accuracy. Kinzie DeLong is another guard who can shoot the ball and find the open shot, getting her teammates involved in the action. Emily Griggs is a lockdown defensive player and someone who can force turnovers and kickstart the transition game.

A challenging schedule will be tough to start the season, but the Lady Tigers will be prepared down the stretch and could be a tough out for any opponent.
