Canadian Valley Tech offers a wide variety of programs that cover just about every kind of job out there. High school students have the opportunity to get a head start on their careers by attending Canadian Valley Tech. Yukon’s Ben Ankrom is one of those students.
“I am in the Bio-Med program,” he said. “I was interested in being in the medical field but not just as a nurse, I wanted to see the scientific side of things and so that is why I chose the Bio-Med program.”
Ankrom has been interested in joining the medical field for quite some time but says that he did not realize he could get a head start on it until representatives from Canadian Valley Tech came to his school.
“I first heard about the program when the counselor at the Cowan Campus, Mrs. Brunk, came to Yukon and talked about CV Tech during my freshman year. What I liked about it was that I could take steps to see if I wanted to go into the medical field. And in that sense, it has been a big help because I have learned that the medical field is not the right place for me and so I was able to figure this out before college and now I am able to have skill sets that I’ve learned from here and apply them to college and my future job.”
Ben is thankful that he was able to narrow his path before he went to college, and he says that Canadian Valley Tech can do the say for others.
“I want others to know that Tech is an amazing experience,” he said. “Not only does it prepare you for college, but it is able to help you determine if certain careers are right for you and your skillset. Once I graduate, I plan to attend Oklahoma State University and major in education to become a high school history teacher.”
While he has been getting ready for his future, Ben also enjoys competing on the tennis court for the Millers. His motivation comes from the fight and dedication it takes to get to the top.
