Alex Jennings is a junior at Coyle Bluejackets where he plays quarterback and cornerback for the varsity football team. Alex started football in the seventh grade after his brother Ethan encouraged him. Head coach Cooper is glad he decided to listen to his brother and play. Coach Cooper said, “Alex is one of the most hard-working kids on and off the field and wishes he had 20 like him.”
Jennings is a leader and motivator for his team. What keeps him motivated to get out and compete every day is simple; he wants to succeed.
“I works hard so I don’t let down everyone that has put time and effort into making me who I am today,” said Jennings.
During pregame, Jennings has a go to playlist mix of Rod Wave. When it comes to game time, Jennings is calm and collected. Calming his nerves before the first snap of the game is accomplished by telling himself, “It’s just another day in the office,” and the nerves turn into excitement.
Jennings said he enjoys watching Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Although he likes to watch college football a bit more, he likes to put himself in scenarios during the games to learn and grow his own game.
Jennings is a three-sport student-athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball for Coyle. Basketball is also one of his favorite sports and it’s the sport he has played the longest. When asked who is the all-time GOAT, Jennings said, “Michael Jordan.”
Outside of sports you can find Jennings spending time with his family, playing video games or fishing. He loves to fish. His most memorable catch was a 63-pound catfish, which he caught on a rod and reel and said it was a fun fight getting it reeled in.
One question Jennings wasted no time in answering was, who would he bring with him to compete on the TV show Family Feud?
“My mom, dad and brother and sister. I would try to make Steve Harvey laugh, but probably fail. Maybe use a couple of dad jokes like, “Why did the bike fall over? Because it was two tired.”
