J.L. FISHER
3-6
OFFENSE
The Crescent Tigers enter the 2022 football season ready to put the 3-6 record from a year ago behind them and get ready for a new season. Head coach J.L. Fisher is in his twenty-fifth season leading the Crescent football program and he is excited about the experience that is coming back. “We have eight returning starters on both sides of the ball,” he said. “We will have a junior heavy squad that is very athletic at the skill positions. We will be lacking in the depth of the roster.” Kade Varner (6-3, 150, Jr.) and Tanner Rice (6-0, 165, Jr.) should both see time at quarterback this season. When he is not playing quarterback, Rice will also play wide receiver. The running back duo of Luke Descher (5-9, 160, Sr.) and Tylan Neugent (5-7, 200, Jr.) will look to have a big season carrying the ball for the Tigers. Taking care of things on the offensive line will be Gabe South (6-2, 260, Sr.) and Stone Fisher (6-1, 250, Jr.). They will work to open up running lanes for Descher and Neugent.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers will run a 4-3 base. Their focus will be to stop the run and be aggressive. Leading the charge upfront will be Chism Watson (6-2, 175, Jr.), Fisher, and South. Fisher is a leader on the defense and will be an anchor on the line. South has been a solid three-year starter on the line and will continue to be an impact player on the team. Playing at linebacker will be Neugent and Descher. Both have worked hard in the offseason and look to have another solid season. Assistant coaches for the Tigers this season will be David Walker, Shawn Booth, Matt Fisher, John Lovett, and Logan LaRue.
